Michael was never one to decline an invitation to a party. Coming from a pureblood family it seemed as if there was a event every week because of a birthday, or some other celebration. Tonight was no different. His father had said he needed to attend, even though he wasn’t sure if he could be bothered with the politics of the older pureblood community. All he wanted to do was drink, and that didn’t always go down very well with the head of the Selwyn family.
Sat in his usual spot at the bar, Michael held his drink tightly and glanced around at the gathering. Tonight it was some random wedding anniversary, he had no idea whose it was though. He sipped at his whiskey, continuing to eye the attendees. The typical problem with these parties was the fact that the average age was close to 50, it was slowly starting to change and with that Michael hoped pureblood attitudes would too. Opinions were becoming stale, the older members of the community weren’t doing anything to stop the muggles from taking over the wizarding world, and the unspeakable wasn’t happy about it.
Another problem was parents interfering. It was a common occurrence, and for some reason Michael had been dragged into another situation of a father trying to change their adult children’s ways.
Brendan Blishwick was not someone he knew particularly well. He had spoken to him a couple of times and knew he was in some sort of band. Michael, who had had his own demons in the past, had been asked to speak to Brendan about thinking about a change of career. A career that his father had found for him after years off the rails. Somehow he now was thriving at the Ministry and really enjoyed his job. He believed he had just got lucky, what was right for him might not have worked for Blishwick.
Now on his second drink, Michael waited for the younger musician. His father had gone to find him, he didn’t blame him if he was hiding somewhere to avoid the meddling.
