 | Ever since Arielle was young she’d always had a sweet tooth. When it came down to food she definitely preferred sweet over savoury, it was mostly down to her mother that she enjoyed sweet food. Ever since she was younger she would have the most amazing memory of her mother in the kitchen baking cakes and other gorgeous desserts. It was definitely a memory that Arielle often thought about but it was mostly brought on by the smell of freshly baked cakes and the sound of whisking. It was something Arielle would love to do with her mother, she’d often remember baking cute little cupcakes on a Sunday afternoon with her mother and decorating them with pink icing and edible glitter. Her mother was just an amazing cook and baker in general, anything she made for the MacMillan family was always delicious but her desserts were just so remarkable as to elicit disbelief.
Often Arielle would receive pocket money from her parents and she’d most likely spend it on sweets from the little sweet shop in Diagon Alley. Of course if she made any plans with her friends she’d save her money but if she had no plans she’d travel to Diagon Alley via floo network and buy a few sweets to munch on throughout the week. Of course she wouldn’t spend all her money but majority of it. She had to make sure she had some money set aside for emergencies, such as if she got invited out somewhere by her friends.
As it was the summer holidays Arielle had spent most of her time at home with her parents and her elder siblings. Of course this was fun for her, she saw her older siblings around Hogwarts but it was hard to really spend quality time with them seeing as they were in different houses but of course as they were older they were off doing their own thing. Being a lot younger she wasn’t really able to go with them or much rather they didn’t want her to go with them, which was fine but it meant Arielle was at home all the time during the summer.
The young brunette forced herself off her bed with a sigh and threw her shoes on tying her shoe laces up and hopped up. She jogged down the stairs into the kitchen where she was greeted with that familiar smell of freshly baked goods. A smile formed on her lips and she informed her mother that she was going to go to Sugarplum’s Sweet Shop on Diagon Alley. Of course she was allowed but she had to be home by a certain time otherwise there would be consequences, of course she was sure she’d be gone for an hour tops unless she bumped into someone she knew from school.
Announcing where she was going she threw the powder against the ground in the fireplace and with a bright green flash she was in Diagon Alley. Stepping out of the fireplace she wandered through the crowds on Diagon Alley looking around to see if she noticed anyone from school. There wasn’t anyone roaming the street but it was possible that there was someone in the shop or she’d most likely bumped into someone on the way out. Entering the sweet shop there was the instant recognition of children giggling with excitement, unfortunately it would appear she was the oldest person in there. Sighing she began to scan the shelves of the shops to see which sweet treats jumped out at her, it was most likely the sweets would actually jump but she wasn’t entirely sure what she fancied this afternoon. | | | | | BY EDWARD OF GS |

[googlefont="Comfortaa"] Callie had just had a lovely conversation with a house mate of hers, Lin Chang. The girl had bumped into Callie, and they ended up shopping together for a bit before saying their goodbyes at the cash register. Lin had gone before her and already left the store, leaving Callie to check out her large bag of sweets and chocolate goods for herself and her family. She set the bin atop the counter and delicately, yet quickly, took everything out for the cashier to ring up. The Hufflepuff dug around in her purse for the money and placed it in the woman's hand, grabbed the plastic bag and spun on her heel to get ready to leave the store. Except, yet another familiar face crossed her eyesight - and this one, Arielle Macmillan, happened to be one of Callie's closest and best friends. Brown eyes immediately lit up and she grinned happily, skipping over to the other brunette. Callie and Arielle met years ago on the Hogwarts Express; Callie a second year, Arielle a first, and her typical attitude had made Arielle stick by her side and they were practically now attached at the hip. Callie was extremely thankful to have this girl as her fiend. "Elle!" She exclaimed, bouncing to give the Gryffindor a tight hug. Her wavy locks swayed behind her and she could not contain her excitement. "How are you? How has your summer been?"

 | Arielle was definitely very indecisive when it came to her sweets simply because she wanted to buy everything within her sights but that wasn’t feasible for the fifteen year old whom only earned a limited amount of pocket money per week. Currently she was trying to choose between chocolate cobwebs, chocolate frogs, a chocolate wand or chocolate skulls. It was possible she could just get all of them but she really needed to learn to not spend all her knuts and sickles on sweets and chocolate all the time but she really did have a sweet tooth.
The petite brunette was so deep in thought over her possible choice of chocolate she hadn’t noticed a young girl skipping gleefully over to her, suddenly she heard someone shout her name in rather close proximity. A small scream left her lips and she whipped herself around wide eyed before her facial expression relaxed. She should’ve known who it was really, not a lot of people called her Elle, the only person who really did was one of her best friends; Callie. Arielle began to laugh at her own startled behaviour before she was embraced by her friend, Arielle squeezed her as tightly as possible before she let go with a grin from ear to ear.
“You really did frighten me!” Arielle laughed once again before she managed to calm her giddy behaviour down enough to actually get a sentence out, “I can’t believe I didn’t notice you when I walked in,” It was beyond her how she missed her but maybe she was so adamant to get to the chocolate aisle she just completely missed her but luckily for her Callie noticed her. “I’m actually great, how about you?” Arielle and Callie had known each other since Arielle’s first year. Even though they were a year apart and in different houses they clicked immediately and became really close friends and throughout the years the closeness grew between them and now Arielle would consider Callie her best friend.
There was really no one else who topped Callie and Arielle knew if she was ever in trouble, needed advice or just a shoulder to cry on she could always count on her fellow brunette to be there for her. “Summer has been great so far, I’ve spent most of it with my parents but I’ve been swimming a few times and into London but I really needed some chocolate today!” Arielle giggled before she returned the question, “How’s your Summer going? I’m surprised I haven’t seen you around more?”. | | | | | BY EDWARD OF GS |

[googlefont="Comfortaa"] The Hufflepuff laughed to herself for a moment, looking at her friend apologetically for startling her. Callie was never the best at being subtle, or quiet, and her excitement tended to get the best of her when she saw someone she knew. Though, that was just who she was, and so far it seemed that those who did not appreciate her happiness did not stick around very long. She was thankful that Arielle was not one of those people. As Callie pulled her arms back from the hug, she shook her head with a smile, "Oh no worries! I was actually chatting with another person around the corner, and then I was checking out." Not that many people looked similar to the Tremlett girl, but from behind you would have to be quite intelligent to know it was her just from her backside and hair. "I am lovely! Just doing some shopping today rather than being bored at home," Arielle was familiar with Callie's family and how her three siblings were all older than she. Not only that, but that her father was a famous rock star and was rarely at home. That was one of the unfortunate means of his career - seeing his children did not happen often. "My summer has not been bad, I do wish I was a bit older though and could go anywhere. I haven't been swimming much, we should go somewhere." Callie winked.

 | Even though Callie was a year older and in an opposing house, the pair got on like a house on fire. The young gryffindor had always been thankful she became best friends with the hufflepuff, they were quite similar in terms of personality. There were a few things that made them different but if they were exactly the same they’d clash quite often and wouldn’t have a wonderful friendship. It was quite easy for Arielle to make friends, the brunette had always been very sociable and found it incredibly easy to communicate with others. Usually this was an issue for most but Arielle was just lucky with how confident she was. Although this had complications for the outspoken student, she wasn’t afraid to argue with others either. Which often led her to get in trouble. She saw herself as a strong individual and she wouldn’t let anyone disrespect her in any way, shape or form.
The young girls brown eyes shined slightly with happiness at the sight of her friend, it had been a significantly long time since she had last encountered the hufflepuff. Arielle had always meant to send an owl to Callie but she just never got around to doing so, but at least she had bumped into her now! “Oh I see! I probably didn’t notice because my mind was focusing on chocolate..” Arielle laughed slightly before she fell silent, it was well known Arielle loved her chocolate so she always made her way very quickly over to the chocolate aisle. Although it was silly for her not to notice her best friend but if the pair were to stand next to one another, you probably wouldn’t be able to tell who was who from behind either.
Recently Arielle had done quite a few things, she just wanted to make the most of her Summer. There were limited options because of her age and her parents never wanted her to stay out too late, the only thing she did was shopping as it was at a reasonable time. Arielle nodded in agreement to Callie’s comment, sometimes she wished she was older. “I know what you mean, I have a curfew during Summer and there isn’t much I can really do other than shop or swim..” Even though the young gryffindor enjoyed swimming, it got boring after a while. “That sounds great! But where should we go?” She raised an eyebrow and waited for Callie’s response.

[googlefont="Comfortaa"] The Hufflepuff was thankful for any and all friends she was able to make. Her disappointment in being the youngest child was kept hidden, her own secrets she never felt too important to share. And besides, who would want to hear about how she rarely saw all three of her older siblings? What a boring conversation that would be. "Well come on, I'll shop with you, then!" Callie did not want Arielle waiting around for her to leave, and Callie did not want to leave straight away. So, the best compromise was for the girl to follow her around as she chose out her chocolates! Her hands grasped her bag through the loop holes as she walked right through the aisles, such saccharine scents wafting left and right. This was not a store she would want to be in had she just stuffed her face full with food, it would be sure to nauseate her. She thought intensely, trying to remember any swimming holes they could run to. She had only recently turned sixteen and would need to take Apparition as her sixth year would begin, so apparating was a no-go for the girls. "We could always sneak back into Hogwarts and swim in the Black Lake," Callie giggled.

 | Arielle enjoyed Callie’s company, even though Arielle had a large handful of friends there was only a few she could trust. The one downfall that came with making a lot of friends was she didn’t know which ones were true to her. She had learnt over the years to be careful when it came to trusting others, as a lot of her so called friends would happily tell others of her hardships and often use them against her. This didn’t stop her from making several friends but it did stop her trusting. It had been hard for her to trust after several altercations with girls she thought she could trust but thankfully Arielle knew she could trust Callie, so the young brunette kept her close.
The gryffindor grinned slightly and began to wonder down some aisle, occasionally stopping to look at the various sweets on the shelves. After a few minutes the fifteen year old had picked up a few sugar quills, a chocolate frog and some other sweets that caught her eye. She carefully carried her sweets over to the counter before she purchased them all, thanking the cashier she took her bag full of sweets and made her way back over to her friend. “I believe I have done shopping, for now anyway.” Arielle giggled before she peered around the store, making sure she hadn’t forgotten anything.
Usually Arielle would swim by a small lake just outside of Hogsmeade but she had spent so much time there she grew bored of it. Arielle beamed slightly at the idea of sneaking back into Hogwarts to swim in the black lake. It was practically impossible but the idea still excited her, “That would be amazing if we could!”

[googlefont="Comfortaa"] "Oh, okay!" Arielle clearly knew what she wanted. Callie felt that when she went into stores such as these that she could spend hours upon hours browsing shelves to see what she was craving, or what was new. Her Gryffindor counterpart did not hesitate in grabbing things here and there and Callie followed her up to the counter to cash out her sweets. Now that they both had some delicious treats to feast on, going swimming and then eating them after would be such a fun thing for them to do. As Ari got her bag from the cashier and they exited the store, heat and humidity hit her hard. Callie immediately groaned, unease racing through her body. She was suddenly thankful she had decided to throw her hair up before leaving her home that morning. "I have an idea, follow me!" She remembered a particular way to get back to Hogwarts easily and quickly, without too much difficulty. Not only that, but nothing that would put the two of them in danger.

| It had been rather easy for Arielle to collect the necessary items, she had always known what she fancied when it came to buying sweets. After she returned to her friend with her bag of sweets, they left the store to be greeted by intense heat. A swim would be perfect right now. Arielle’s brown eyes scanned the area before settling on her friend. Callie announced she had an idea, which could end in one of two ways. Hopefully they wouldn’t get in trouble.
Arielle nodded and followed Callie, feeling the heat warm her exposed skin. “Callie, where are we going?” She knew she could trust Callie, but she didn’t like not knowing what was happening, she liked to know what she was doing. Being kept in the dark wasn’t something Arielle enjoyed.

[googlefont="Comfortaa"] Callie grinned mischievously at her friend. She hoped the Gryffindor would not deny this fun adventure - the most trouble they could get in was being kicked out. Callie knew that even though it was summer time there was still people who worked at Hogwarts during these few months, and she normally was not a trouble maker. A stern talking to would do the trick, and she could have a new story of her eventful day of sneaking into the Black Lake with her best friend. "Back to school, of course." Bravery was a trait that Arielle should have above all else, right? And it was absolutely dreadful outside, Callie was sure that if they got caught, whomever it was would understand two young girls just wanting to cool down with a quick swim. She had heard through the grape vine that a particular statue on the fifth floor was possible to access from Hogsmeade. It would be a challenge to travel all the way to the grounds, but Callie was optimistic they could do it.
