Getting out of the Ministry early had left Michael with a problem; which pub was he going to. Having finished one of the biggest research projects he had ever been part of, he was allowed to celebrate. A couple of colleagues were heading out later but since he passed the Leaky Cauldron on his way home, it would be rude not to.
It was a warm day, and Michael had dressed down, something which he didn’t often do. His shirt was slightly undone and his hair had become a little wild due to the humidity. A cold drink would work wonders, he thought.
Pushing the door open, the cool breeze whipped past him and he sighed deeply, thankful for it. Surprisingly it wasn’t too busy, which meant he could get a stool at the bar, the perfect spot. It meant he could see who was coming and going but could also order a drink quicker. Taking a seat, his bright eyes scanned the delights of the back bar. Michael didn’t know why he ever looked; he always ended up having a whiskey anyway. Service was quick and soon enough he had a drink. The glass cooled his hand and upon taking a sip, the cool liquor made him feel even better than he had before.
A number of groups of witches and wizards came to the bar, ordering a variety of drinks and food. This was place was actually quite pleasant when it wasn’t full of students, he thought to himself. Along the bar, someone caught his attention. He placed his glass down and lifted his head to get a better look. Maybe coming to the bar this early had been a better idea than he had once thought.
